Elements of
the Reggio Emilia Approach

A classroom that feels like home

Children are encouraged to explore, discover, and learn in our safe, warm and cozy environment. Our children feel like they’re at home. Nature is brought into the classroom and in here, children see natural light, green plants, and natural wooden toys with endless possibilities to create.

Learning that follows the child

Every child is a unique individual. Our teachers observe and discover what interests and needs each child has and use this knowledge to create meaningful and engaging activities. This approach allows the children to explore, develop, and learn in an environment that is tailored to their individual needs and interests.

Collaboration and social interaction

Children come to understand themselves and their place in the world through their relationships with others. Each day, they practice listening, sharing ideas, and caring for their friends, building the empathy and confidence they will carry into the wider world.

The hundred languages of children

Children are communicators. We invite them to express their ideas, feelings, and thoughts through painting, sculpting, music, storytelling, and other forms of self-expression.

Documentation

We embrace the processing of thoughts. Through the use of photography, videography, transcripts of children's thoughts and visual representations, we capture the learning process of our students. This documentation embraces the process rather than the product, it encourages and assures our children that their work and thinking are regarded, understood and appreciated.
